An Exhibition of Celebrations in a St Anne’s Year – 7th-12th October 2013
The centenary committee and volunteers made the Church ready for its birthday celebrations.
The special church services were represented by the Easter cross and gardens, the Remembrance poppies and the Manger scene and the many floral decorations commemorated the seasons.
The sun shone and the church looked beautiful with the wonderful floral displays. Now all that was needed were the guests. And we were not to be disappointed. Members of the church, friends from the other congregations in Corstorphine and Murrayfield, neighbours and even a former member from Tasmania were welcomed. Every morning at 11 o’clock a short act of worship took place which was much appreciated. We also had organ music live and recorded.

During the week over 400 people came to celebrate with us, and many visited the “Café” organised and staffed by the Guild. Morning tea and coffee with home baking, soup and sandwich lunches and afternoon tea with more cakes and scones, provided by Guild members and church friends. I think we need a recipe page!!
Donations boxes were provided for those who wished to give, and give they certainly did. £1400 was raised over the week. This money will be given to projects in our community as our outreach centenary birthday present to them.
Thank you to all for an amazing week, for the beautiful displays and the ideas that came into fruition. It was a fitting tribute to that original congregation whose faith and vision inspired the star of the show ….
