BREAKING NEWS! - Builders will be on site within days!

Why Develop?

Picture

In 1903 St Anne’s Parish Church, Corstorphine opened as a daughter Church of Corstorphine Old Parish, due to an expanding population. It started life as ‘The Tin Kirk’.

On 25th May 1912, the foundation stone for the magnificent new Sanctuary for St Anne’s was laid. The congregation, then with a Communion Roll of 186, wished to open the new Church free of debt, but it was in faith that the building began, as the necessary funds were not in place.

Yet the Building Committee was able to announce at the opening ceremony on 4th October 1913, that all the money required for the building of St Anne’s had been obtained through the generous giving of the members and many others. The Hall and meeting rooms were added in the 1930’s and upgraded in the 50’s.

The facilities are now old and tired and do not meet present day Health & Safety standards, nor internal accessibility requirements, as our site is on two levels.

An upgrading of these facilities is long overdue, and we believe this is the right time to take on this project. It is not a cheap undertaking but we are fortunate to have significant funds from the sale of the Belgrave Halls in hand, and the generous support of many who wish the development to proceed.

Please take time to read the information on this site, and we hope you will be encouraged and willing to support this exciting development.
