Rocking on...

We St Anne’s web-footed fowl are a musical bunch: found myself on a rock quacking out this chorus: “No storm can shake my inmost calm, While to that rock I'm clinging.  Since love is Lord of heaven and earth, How can I keep from singing?”
Or quacking...
Hope you find something to sing about today, however steep the day may seem...

Ducks CAN Climb trees

Some ducks CAN climb trees!  (Ducks like me – who can also wear bow ties...)
Mark Twain said ‘Humour is the great thing, the saving thing.  The minute it crops up, all our irritations and resentments slip away and a sunny spirit takes their place.’
Like a duck in a tree...

Daily Waddle

I was out for my daily waddle, and I found this pretty little flower fighting for its place in the sun.
You know, it is AMAZING how nature can find a way to bring beauty in the most unexpected places – like a tatty fence in a built-up area!  Agatha Christie once said, ‘I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know that just to be alive is a grand thing.’
Bit like that flower, really...

Sensible Thoughts

I am hearing that many people are feeling the strain at the moment – paddling like mad underneath, while trying to stay calm:  I’ve found a rather helpful book – it’s full of sensible thoughts (and perhaps the occasional oddity):  I like Psalm 91 – it’s about the Assurance of God’s Protection: I recommend a quiet moment, and reading it slowly and carefully.
It’s worth giving it a go...

Signs of Spring

I thought I would quack up if I didn’t get some fresh air, and look what I found: signs of spring on a sunny day – isn’t nature wonderful?
I like this thought from Peter Pan: ‘Do you know,’ Peter asked, ‘why swallows build in the eaves of houses?  It is to listen to the stories.’
I hope you are all keeping in touch with each other, and listening to the stories.

Introducing... Waddles!

Let me introduce myself – although some of you might recognise me: I am Waddles Duck.
It’s my goal to bring you a daily ‘QUACK’ through the next months, on behalf of the Vestry Fowl Farm, sorry, Duck House.
(I can’t do ‘Tweet of the Day’ because I can’t tweet... – I know, ‘waddle’ I think of next?)
Anyway: I found this candle lit, and in dark times I like the light – and the quotation from John 14.6.  May HIS light shine in your hearts.
