Church Organ
THE ORGAN IN ST ANNE’S, CORSTORPHINE
Built in 1922 by Arthur E Ingram & Co. of Saughton Avenue, Edinburgh. Opus 841, 23 speaking stops, 1176 pipes. Specified by H Whalley of St George’s Parish Church, Edinburgh (now West Register House) and dedicated on Sunday 5 November 1922.
Manuals 61 notes, pedals 30 notes. Tubular pneumatic action. Cost £1,693. In east corner of south aisle, with two-sided wooden case with pipe-rack facades, and reversed detached console facing north. Drawstops, radiating and concave pedalboard. Balanced swell pedal operating both Swell and Nazard/Tierce boxes. Blower in basement beneath organ.
Overhauled in 1950, and again in 1975, probably with replacement of bellows leatherwork.
In 1997 Ronald Smith of Cleish replaced the leatherwork in the pedal chests and added two ranks (Nazard and Tierce) from the redundant organ in Mayfield Salisbury Parish Church, on a separate 58 note enclosed direct electric action soundboard. Now 27 speaking stops, 1292 pipes. In 2006 Paul Miller of Cumbernauld overhauled the organ at a cost of £18,604, and with a humidifier being installed.
